Pospolite Ruszenie has brought together musicians from two completely different musical worlds: that of rock, and that of early music. The band's line up comprises members of the cult band Open Folk and rock bands such as Illuminandi and Rumor. Their music fuses (hard) rock with mediaeval, renaissance and baroque music; a classic rock line-up is accompanied by musicians performing on replicas of period instruments. They use original Old Polish poetry for their lyrics.
The band just released their first EP - SWIEBODNOSC (the title comes from medieval song popular in XV century and means a generosity or a magnanimity).
Tracklist:
1. Zoltarz Jezusow, czyli Jezusa Judasz przedal / Lament over Jusus,
or Jesus betreayed by Judas' (ca 1488)
2. Pan Bog Wszechmogacy / Lord God, the Almighty (1563)
3. Niescie chwale, mocarze / Ascribe unto the Lord, o Ye Sons of Might
(lyrics: Psalm 29 translated by Jan Kochanowski / music: Mikolaj
Gomulka, published in 1580)
Line-up:
Jan Trebacz - vocals, hurdy-gurdy
